Hi I'm just a guy that can't say no. Call me Smoke. That's not my real name but who cares this is about you not me. Well I've done it all. Used up all my 'funtickets" as Jimmy Buffet might say. Had a drinking problem. Came from a family of heavy drinkers. Learned early. It was easy: came to me naturally you might say. My brother too. We both got hooked and hooked good. We had drinking problems. No one else in the family had drinking problems. They were drunks. My brother and I were different. Thankfully we were alcoholics. There's a big difference between drunks and alcoholics. That's what this sevensteps is all about. How I stopped drinking by myself, privately without God, church or guilt! Without doctors, drugs or artificial help. Later I realized this is the best way to trick yourself into stopping anything you want or shouldn't do including drinking, drugs, smoking even online trading in the stock market!

I was so filled with joy and energy after I kicked booze I wanted to help everybody. I ran ads in Philadelphia newspapers classified sections offering to mail sevensteps free to anyone, even put in my home telephone number. I sent out so many copies and talked to so many people ( most drunk wanting sevensteps for a friend) I can't begin to remember them all. How many did I help? I honestly don't know. Maybe none. Maybe all. No feedback was requested but some sent checks and Christmas cards and that told me something. We moved from Philadelphia in 1979 and I put my sevensteps in a drawer and forgot about it. After 27 years I was still sober so that's all that matters right? Recently addicts have been making headlines with outrageous acts of terror. So 20 years later sevensteps is REBORN in exactly the same format and completely unedited! Even though I write professionally now I wouldn't change a word or comma on even spell check it for this was a story of a man coming out of a long lonely tunnel into the light. Written on a broken typewriter, in his words at that time the best he could do to tell you where he had been and what he had learned.

Now I would give you this for free as I use to do. But you know even if it was worth a million dollars to you to stop drinking, or taking drugs, or something you need to quit (and it may be worth many times that - even your life), something you get for nothing its hard for you to respect. Too easy! Now if your life starts coming apart and you loose everything, fall down that rat hole so deep you can't see daylight, crawl on your belly through the muck and mire then slowly climb that mountain until you reach the very top then throw yourself in front of the hi-llama, the wisest of the wise pleading for The Truth! Even a one liner. Anything!

So I'm charging you for The Truth. Take it or leave it. Look at it this way, I am saving you that trip. But beware as Homer Simpson says. "The Truth! You want the truth.. You can't handle the truth!"

However I changed my life with sevensteps. In my heart of hearts I believe anyone can.
